Detached patio roof plans. A freestanding patio is a covered patio that sits on your backyard without being supported by the house or other buildings. When you are building a patio cover off of an existing roof or wall you must take all of your measurements from the point at which the patio roof will attach to the existing structure not the outside of the slab. Use the info from the diagram to space the rafters every 16 on center. Unlike the ones that rely on the roof this patio features at least four posts that support the cover.

These patio cover plans can be adapted in length and width as long as you follow your local beam and rafter span codes. The existing slab can vary considerably throwing off crucial measurements.
